Appling County and Pierce County were finally able to settle the Class AA baseball championship as the Pirates won Game 3 and the state title, while Providence Christian and Charlton County split two games.
The semifinals of the baseball playoffs concluded Tuesday night with Parkview, Brookwood, Greenbrier, Loganville, Columbus, Ringgold, Pierce County, Charlton County and Providence Christian joining Monday’s winner, Appling County, in the finals.

Voters in three Southeast Georgia counties have until Friday to cast their votes during the "early voting" period for a special election. County election officials, however, say the problem is that few people have voted and it's costing them money to staff the "early voting" booth.
