The nation re-elected President Barack Obama Tuesday for a second term in the White House. He told supporters that they deserve credit for his re-election victory. Obama tweeted, "This happened because of you. Thank you." Obama claimed the election with wins in Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Colorado and Virginia. Georgians, however, voted overwhelmingly for Romney to hand him the state's 16 electoral votes.

The showdown last between Vice President Joe Biden and Republican Congressman Paul Ryan was a clear victory for Biden if you’re a Democrat. And it was a slam dunk for Ryan if you’re a Republican. By all accounts, it had the intensity and the fireworks that the first presidential debate lacked.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has selected Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan to be his running mate. The candidate made his announcement to supporters via a phone app, saying -- quote -- "Mitt's Choice for VP is Paul Ryan."
