South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has vetoed an attempt to strip power from the office building an ocean terminal jointly with Georgia. The Joint Project Office or J-P-O is planning a new port on the South Carolina side of the shared Savannah River. Haley says, she vetoed a measure that would strip power from the agency pushing the terminal.

South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson says he's one of the only lawmakers in South Carolina who is politically incorrect enough to favor a new port terminal in Jasper County. The Beaufort Gazette reports that the 2nd District congressman spoke to a group of Republicans in Beaufort on Monday.

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley says, she was misinterpreted last year when she seemed to soothe opponents of Savannah harbor deepening. Some South Carolinians see Savannah's proposed port expansion as a threat to Charleston's port. Her words last year came up this week when reporters asked her about a permit South Carolina recently gave to Georgia's project.

A member of the South Carolina state ports authority board is urging people not to read too much into a new pair of political appointments. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley recently appointed two new members. Neither of them are from the Beaufort area, near Savannah.
