The Democratic Party of Georgia released the names Thursday of the four candidates who have qualified to run for the position of party chair. The candidates are R. J. Hadley, who is the organization’s current Vice Chair, as well as Dubose Porter, Doug Stoner and Mary Squires, who have all served in the Georgia General Assembly.
Nikema Williams officially took over as interim Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Georgia Monday. Williams previously served as the party’s First Vice Chair, but was moved to the interim position after former Chairman Mike Berlon stepped down. Berlon’s resignation was effective Sunday.
Georgia Democratic Party Chair Mike Berlon says he will be stepping down on Sunday. Berlon had announced his resignation last week, citing concerns by Democratic leaders that his personal issues were becoming a distraction as a major election year looms.
