The national Weather Service was predicting snow in North Georgia late Monday night. There's a weather advisory for nine counties from midnight until ten A.M. tomorrow. Meteorologist Steven Nelson advises cautious driving.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northeastern portion of Georgia through Tuesday morning. Motorists are urged to use caution while driving, especially on bridges and overpasses.

A tornado watch covered several counties in western and central Georgia as storms moved into the state from Alabama. Georgia Power spokeswoman Carol Boatright said there were about 750 customers with storm-related outages statewide early Monday, about 400 of them in northwest Georgia.

The National Weather Service says there's a chance of severe storms hitting north and central Georgia. A storm system was moving into the state on Tuesday. Severe thunderstorms could sweep through metro Atlanta Tuesday night as cooler air collides with the warm air mass that sent pre-Thanksgiving temperatures to record levels.

Twisters and heavy rains were the result of slow-moving remnants of Tropical Storm Lee that pushed through the northern portion of Georgia. State emergency officials say nearly 100 homes were damaged in north Georgia’s Cherokee County from severe weather that moved through Monday.

Authorities say one person was injured in a possible tornado in Cherokee County as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee crossed the state. Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee County Sheriff's department said the storm toppled trees Monday afternoon and several trees landed in homes. He said the victim was taken to the hospital but the person's condition is not known.

Hurricane Irene is churning up rough seas and dangerous riptides on Georgia's beaches as the storm passes the coast 240 miles offshore. Lifeguards on Tybee Island closed its waters to swimmers Friday after officials decided conditions were too dangerous. Surfers and others were still being allowed in the water at their own risk.

National Weather Service forecasters are warning of several threats to Georgia marine interests because of Hurricane Irene. The US Coast Guard is urging shippers to use extreme caution because of possible 15-foot seas, dangerous rip currents and unusually high tides. On land, however, the Savannah area could get less than an inch of rain.

Forecasters are warning of dangerous heat for much of the state Wednesday. In portions of southeast Georgia, the National Weather Service has a heat warning in-place into Wednesday evening. Elsewhere, a heat advisory is forecast for much of the state.

Forecasters are warning of dangerous heat for much of Georgia today. The National Weather Service has put in-place a heat advisory that goes into effect from 11 Tuesday morning until 5am Wednesday. High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 90s statewide on Tuesday, with some triple digit readings possible. The northeast Georgia mountains may stay in the upper 80s for highs. There is the chance of a stray afternoon shower or thunderstorm.
