    Increased use of natural gas is at the top of Georgia Power's to-do list according to the company's new 20-year plan. Georgia Power is required to submit a long-range plan every three years to the Public Service Comission. In its latest version, the company highlights the need for many different sources of energy.

    A 300 ton container vessel for a new nucelear reactor at Plant Vogtle is still sitting at the Port of Savannah -- a month after workers tried unsuccessfully to move it by rail. A spokesman for Southern Company, building the nuclear plant, says when the train left the port on December 15th, the vessel's rail platform shifted. Public information on the incident is scant.

    Governor Sonny Perdue has nominated a Southeast Georgia state lawmaker to be the next Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources. Jesup State Representative Mark Williams will see his nomination go before the DNR board. Perdue noted Williams' biology degree in his nomination. Williams also served as deputy whip of the House GOP.
