The elections board in a large east Georgia county is trying to decide what to do about cases of voters who don't live where they say they do. The Richmond County Board of Elections plans to take up the issue during a Monday night meeting.

The Richmond County Board of Elections decided Friday night that Executive Director Lynn Bailey should scrutinize a list of voters whose addresses appear to be vacant lots or abandoned houses. Bailey said she will present a full report next month along with a plan of action to improve the accuracy of the voting rolls.

Election officials say early voting for the primary is slow but steady. In Athens-Clarke County they are seeing about one hundred early voters a day. In Richmond County they are seeing 150 to 200 early voters a day.

Early voting begins July 9th for the primary election. Gail Schrader, supervisor of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections, says they aren’t expecting a big turnout for the primary because there aren’t a lot of hot local races. However, she says the Northeast Georgia TSPOLST may bring people out.
