    Governor Nathan Deal announced a statewide crackdown on Internet gambling Thursday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation estimated there are 50 to 100 gambling businesses in the state disguised as Internet cafes. Deal has directed the GBI and district attorneys to go after the cafes.

In a letter to GOP senators dated Thursday, Cagle proposed a return of some of the powers he lost in the weeks after he was overwhelmingly re-elected. The 2011 General Assembly ended this week with no clear path to a solution as both sides remained bitterly opposed — although they both acknowledged the leadership structure would have to change.
