Natasha Tretheway Named Poet Laureate
2007 Pulitzer Prize winner Natasha Tretheway was named by the Library of Congress Thursday. She is the second Poet Laureate from the South, the first African-American in 17 years and one of the youngest ever. Tretheway cites Robert Penn Warren as an inspiration. Warren was named poet laureate in 1986.
