The first round of the Georgia high school basketball playoffs is halfway done after a rousing night of action on Friday. Tonight at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center in Dalton, Buford pulled what could be called the upset of the GHSA boys state basketball tournament.The Wolves took down perennial power South Atlanta, which had been ranked No. 1 in Class AA for much of the season.

The second round of the state high school basketball playoffs took place Tuesday on campuses around the state. For the most part, the favorites rolled. However, in Cherokee County, third-seeded Milton pulled another upset as they defeated No. 1 seed Etowah on their home floor. The Lady Eagles had upended No. 2 seed Parkview last week on the road.
