Savannah economic development officials are focusing attention on 10 countries that they say have the biggest potential for increasing business with the coastal city. The non-profit World Trade Center in Savannah recently identified large trading partners such as Canada, the UK, Germany and Brazil as targets for growth.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will travel to Egypt and Israel next week, where he will advocate for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A group of past heads of state that advocates for peace called The Elders announced the visit Thursday.

Israeli business leaders are in Savannah through Tuesday on a trade mission. But it's also part of a larger international push in the coastal city. Last year Savannah's Economic Development Authority formed a World Trade Center in Savannah. And other local officials created an International Alliance. Both are aimed squarely at boosting trade around the world.
