The Great Dane facility is opening for production following a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new plant comes little more than a year after the company broke ground on its newest manufacturing plant in Statesboro. Great Dane's new plant is expected to bring more than 400 jobs to the area.
City officials have approved plans for Great Dane Trailers to build a research and development center in Savannah. The plans include a two-building research and development center, a truck simulator and a new office building. The company could not be reached for comment on the project, but the newspaper reports it will likely result in new jobs.
The world’s top trailer manufacturer will begin construction on a new plant in Statesboro later this year. Governor Perdue announced the company’s $33.5 million dollar plan on Monday. The investment is expected to create more than 400 jobs over the next four years.
