The first round of the playoffs tonight centered around upsets involving Gwinnett and Cobb County teams. In one of the biggest upsets in the state tonight, Brookwood went to No. 2 Lassiter and handed the Trojans their first loss of the season in overtime. No. 4 seed Mill Creek traveled to north Fulton and upset Alpharetta with a last-second field goal, while Parkview traveled to east Cobb and beat Walton in overtime.

Last week, Parkview and North Cobb pulled off amazing upsets of two of the top teams in the state. This week, the Panthers and Warriors won to keep rolling in region play.

The action got fast and furious this week on the high school gridiron as No. 1 Grayson and No. 2 Walton fell in the state's largest classification. Today in Game 2 of the Metro PCS Corky Kell Classic, Grayson probably didn’t play its best, but managed a decisive 31-12 win over a quality opponent in No. 9 McEachern to extend the Rams’ state-best 16-game winning streak.
