    A new study says, it would be economically feasible to build an Atlanta-to-Jacksonville high-speed rail line. A consultant presented the study to the state transporation board Wednesday, estimating the route's total cost between $5-16 billion dollars. Stops could include Macon, Savannah and Bruswick.

    Columbus leaders do not want to be left out of Georgia’s passenger rail discussion. So Mayor Teresa Tomlinson is creating a Mayor’s Commission on Passenger Rail to make sure Columbus is not forgotten. Tomlinson’s commission will be charged with finding out if the community wants rail and its potential impact on the area.

    Passenger rail proponents are investing funds into a study to bring back a train between Savannah and Atlanta. The last time a person could hop a train from the big city to the coast was 1971. Any new service would face incredible odds. But the new group's aim is to start small and build support.
