The University of Georgia has scheduled a one-hour memorial service for longtime Georgia radio announcer Larry Munson for 1 p.m. on Dec. 10 at Sanford Stadium. University officials say seating will be on the south side of the stadium, and the gates will open at noon.

Student leaders at the University of Georgia want to reverse bans on tents, large tables and tailgating more than 4 hours before games in the historic North Campus area. They say the rules are driving tailgaters away and seem arbitrary. Bans on kegs, grills, TVs, generators and household furniture would remain intact.

After 70 years football is returning to Mercer University in Macon. Board of Trustees voted unanimously to hire a coach and build a stadium. Play set to begin in 2013.
