Emory Dunahoo Jr. has won a runoff election for a seat in the Georgia House representing a district in Hall County. Newnan businessman Mike Crane will take his seat in the state Senate after winning the District 28 runoff. And in Senate District 50, John Wilkinson captured 58 percent of the vote to win his runoff against Rick Austin.

House Bill 92 would decrease early voting days from 45 to 21. Bill has bipartisan support and could save smaller counties a lot of money. Early voting was extended in 2008.

State transportation officials want to start building more roads in Georgia before they have all the money to pay for them. Although voters rejected that idea Tuesday when Amendment 3 failed, officials will still push the plan.

Voters go to the polls to decide who will fill some of the state’s most powerful posts, including the governor’s office, and a seat in the US senate. Georgians will also decide on a race that seems to be off most people’s radar- the Public Service Commission- and the post has a lot of influence over a basic need of everyone- energy.

Over a hundred people rallied at the state capital in Atlanta Tuesday to support an amendment which would raise money for the state’s trauma care network. Amendment 2 would create an annual ten dollar tag fee to fund the ailing system.

African-Americans turned out in record numbers to vote for President Barack Obama, but he’s not on the ticket this time around, and overall turnout will be down simply because it’s a mid-term election.

A statewide coalition of business and medical groups is launching television ads in support of a November ballot measure that would increase car tag fees. The ads push a state constitutional amendment that if passed, would raise car tag fees by $10 a year to pay for a statewide trauma care network.
