A nonprofit group dedicated to protecting Georgia's historic places says it's planning upgrades to its Atlanta headquarters that will make the nearly century-old mansion more environmentally efficient without sacrificing its historic integrity.
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, a nonprofit formed to help save the state's historic treasures, says Percell and Veronica Kelley recently bought a Victorian railroad cottage known as the Miller House. It’s the third historic home needing restoration work they’ve bought in the city of Fosyth over the past three years.
A Georgia nonprofit dedicated to preserving the state's historic treasures is giving $2,500 to help restore a cow barn at the Milledgeville farm of author Flannery O'Connor. The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation says the grant money will go to the Flannery O'Connor-Andalusia Foundation. Andalusia is the 544-acre farm where O'Connor lived and wrote from 1951 until her death in 1964.
The Tift Depot in Albany is one of five remaining antebellum brick rail depots in Georgia. Thanks to its spot on the Georgia Trust’s 2012 Places in Peril, the depot is receiving publicity that could help with restoration.
