State transportation officials are selling land they don't need to bring in more money. The initial sale will include 11 parcels in the Atlanta area. Jill Goldberg of the state Department of Transportation says the parcels were chosen because they could be attractive to buyers.
Nearly $2.5 billion in new federal transportation money has opened-up, and Georgia’s one of two dozen states bidding for a slice. If Georgia wins some of the cash, the state’s freight transportation network could benefit.
The Department of Transportation says conditions on the state’s roads are improving after a snowstorm covered much of Georgia this morning. Parham says ice and sleet will likely continue through Tuesday and that drivers should leave about 10 times the normal following distance to help prevent collisions.
