Georgia is cracking down on new forms of synthetic marijuana. At the request of Gov. Nathan Deal, the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy has adopted an emergency rule classifying newly discovered compounds of synthetic marijuana as controlled substances.

A bill allowing the Georgia Board of Pharmacy to conduct physical and mental evaluations of pharmacists is now state law. The Board of Pharmacy will also have more authority to investigate license applicants.

A bill allowing the Georgia Board of Pharmacy to conduct physical and mental evaluations of pharmacists takes effect Friday. The Board of Pharmacy will also have more authority to investigate license applicants. Georgia currently has a shortage of pharmacists.
