A Flowery Branch councilwoman has returned to her home in suburban Atlanta after being deployed in Afghanistan for six months. She was deployed with the 628th Civil Engineer Flight at Dobbins Air Reserve in Marietta in the middle of her first term.

West Forsyth upended Hillgrove 40-28 after scoring 26 unanswered points in the third quarter. Hillgrove star running back Kenyan Drake was held to 19 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Drake also had five receptions for 44 yards and two scores as well as a kickoff return for a touchdown..

In an important Region 2-AAAAA clash Brandon Addison preserved the victory for undefeated Stephenson on the game’s final play, as the Jaguars defeated East Coweta 24-17. With East Coweta inside the Stephenson 10-yard line, Addison sacked the Indians' quarterback.

From Savannah to the Tennessee line, we were all over the first round of the state basketball playoffs tonight. While there were some upsets - such as Redan and Savannah Christian going down - perennial powers like the Miller Grove boys and Wesleyan girls rolled past out-matched opponents.

Another Friday night has come and gone and the top 10 football rankings have seen more changes. Class AAAA saw the most alterations after Kell defeated Hiram to knock the Hornets out of the top 10. The Longhorns moved up a spot to No. 4 as a result of their dominant 30-7 win. Griffin dropped from No. 4 to No. 5 despite a blowout win over Alcovy.
