FBI divers, cadaver dogs and dozens of searchers are continuing to scour Lake Lanier for signs of a teenager missing since a fishing boat collided with his family's pontoon boat. They resumed the search for 13-year-old Griffin Prince after daybreak on Tuesday.
New FBI statistics show that violent crime and killings are down in Georgia, mirroring a national trend. In Georgia, there were 39,072 violent crimes in 2010 compared to 42,073 the previous year, which represents a 7 percent decline. Nationwide, there was a 6 percent drop.
The commissions that oversee the ethics of elected state legislators and judges are getting help with future investigations. That will come from a new unit inside Georgia’s office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This new squad will specifically focus on ethics cases of elected judges and legislators.
A law enforcement official says the FBI has arrested four people who worked at the Fulton County Jail. The official told The Associated Press the four were arrested Thursday morning at the Atlanta complex. Anonymity was requested because the official was not authorized to speak publicly.
