Savannah on Wednesday will open its first public charging stations for electric cars. Mayor Edna Jackson and other city officials were to attend a ribbon cutting at the parking garage where the stations have been installed.
Electric Cars are expected to become popular next year when major automakers like Nissan and Chevrolet will roll out their models of the non polluting vehicles. But, as GPB’s Alex Jud reports, this fall a Georgia-based company hopes to beat all the big auto suppliers by selling the first, fast and affordable electric car.
An electric car company headquartered in Georgia is taking reservations for its new 2-seater known as the Wheego. It retails for about $33 thousand dollars but with federal and state tax credits the price would go down to about $20 thousand.
