Dublin City Schools Tuesday announced that bonds from the Dublin-Laurens Development Authority will finance the plan to make Dublin High School middle Georgia's largest solar power provider. The school is set to install 4,000 solar panels to reduce its energy costs by roughly 40 percent.

Finding ways to develop small downtowns is the goal of a three-day state tour that kicked off Wednesday. Attendees include business leaders, builders, and state agency officials, and the tour this year includes stops in Metter and St. Mary’s in Southeast Georgia and Dublin, east of Macon.

Officials from seven Georgia counties served by a federal courthouse in Dublin have signed a joint resolution in an effort to keep the facility open. The city’s court facility is one of 60 around the country and five in Georgia the Justice Department is considering for closure.

A Denmark-based automotive supplier has announced plans to open a manufacturing plant in south Georgia expected to bring 250 jobs and $15 million to the state. Automotive emissions control and exhaust manufacturer Dinex Group will open its first U.S. plant in Dublin-Laurens County.

A $39 million German automotive plant will open in Dublin in 2013. Gov. Nathan Deal said Munich-based Erdrich Umformtechnik will bring 178 jobs to the area.

West Forsyth upended Hillgrove 40-28 after scoring 26 unanswered points in the third quarter. Hillgrove star running back Kenyan Drake was held to 19 carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Drake also had five receptions for 44 yards and two scores as well as a kickoff return for a touchdown..
