Savannah area police and sheriff's deputies say they rounded more than 200 pounds of expired and unwanted drugs as part of a national sweep. The prescription and over-the-counter drugs were collected Saturday as part of an event sponsored by the national Drug Enforcement Administration.

Georgians are invited to dispose of unwanted prescription medication during national prescription drug take-back day. The event is scheduled for April 27 with drop-off sites across the state.

Georgians are getting another opportunity to rid home medicine cabinets of unused, potentially dangerous medications. During the Drug Enforcement Administration's national Take Back Day program, drug disposal sites will be set up across the state Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
