Unemployment rates jumped in all of Georgia’s metro areas in June. The state Labor Department blamed the rise on a growing labor force in most areas along with layoffs.

Most of Georgia’s metro areas saw slight drops in their unemployment rates in February. Statewide, February’s unemployment rate was 9.1 percent.

The Dalton area had the highest unemployment rate among Georgia's metro areas last month at 12.1 percent. The Athens and Warner Robins areas had the lowest rates at 7.3 percent. In metro Atlanta, the rate increased to 9.4 percent.

More detailed unemployment data from the state labor department shows the Dalton area has the highest jobless rate at 11.8 percent. Metro Athens posted the lowest unemployment rate in November at 6.9 percent.
