The mayor of Columbus says, she's forming a commission to push for regional passenger rail service to the west Georgia city. Mayor Teresa Tomlinson has put several community and business leaders on the commission. She hopes the panel will help efforts to build a Columbus to Atlanta rail link, one of city leaders' top priorities.
Several cities across the state are urging the governor to veto a bill that would allow the clear-cutting of trees around billboards. They say the bill would hinder beautification efforts and put millions of taxpayer dollars to waste.
