The first round of the Georgia high school basketball playoffs is halfway done after a rousing night of action on Friday. The highlight of the night may have been Class A No. 1 Calvary Day losing to Greenville 66-64 in a thriller in Savannah. Check our recaps below for more exciting Friday night playoff action.

Terrell Cason’s two touchdown runs propelled visiting Cairo to a 21-0 victory over St. Pius in the Class AAA quarterfinals. The Syrupmakers (11-2) will make their first semifinals appearance since winning the state title in 2008.

Class 5A featured a bit of a shakeup following the Winnersville Classic as Lowndes dropped out of the poll and Valdosta entered at No. 10.

Region 1-AAAAA is once again a hot place to be for non-region action this weekend. Valdosta will host Robert E. Lee out of Montgomery, Ala., this weekend and should win easily against the 0-4 Generals.
