The first round of the Georgia high school basketball playoffs is halfway done after a rousing night of action on Friday. The highlight of the night may have been Class A No. 1 Calvary Day losing to Greenville 66-64 in a thriller in Savannah. Check our recaps below for more exciting Friday night playoff action.

Ranked teams rolled tonight in metro Atlanta as Tucker, Hillgrove, McEachern, Walton and others dominated their outmatched foes. In some close region contests, Collins Hill edged Mill Creek while Blessed Trinity kicked a late field goal to beat Lovett.

Grayson improved to 6-0 on the year and knocked visiting Dacula out of a three-way tie for the Region 8-AAAAA lead 34-14 Friday night in Loganville.

Another Friday night is in the books and so are dozens of metro Atlanta high school football games. Wesleyan got back on the winning track, while Tri Cities and Dacula notched wins as well.

The second week of the full slate of high school football games did not disappoint. Chattahoochee looked to get their season off on the right foot, but Lambert spoiled their season opener with a convincing win on the Cougars' home turf.

To kick off our weekly high school football recaps, we covered five games on the first Friday night of the season. As usual, there was a little bit of everything tonight. Highlighting the evening was a three touchdown performance by a Cherokee Warrior, a South Atlanta athlete who did a little of everything and a pick-6 happy Pinecrest Academy squad.
