Savannah area police and sheriff's deputies say they rounded more than 200 pounds of expired and unwanted drugs as part of a national sweep. The prescription and over-the-counter drugs were collected Saturday as part of an event sponsored by the national Drug Enforcement Administration.

Officials in Chatham County say they're working to clear a backlog of more than 10,000 outstanding warrants. As of Nov. 2, the county sheriff's department listed 10,272 outstanding warrants, some of which dated back to the 1990s.

Schools, libraries and other public buildings in Savannah's Chatham County now have binders showing area sex offenders. Authorities delivered photos of more than 400 sex offenders to more than 100 public places. A new state law requires all sheriffs to have sex offender information in print -- not just online.
