The federal Food and Drug Administration has put Georgia’s cantaloupe growers on notice that inspectors will be checking out packing operations when they begin in a few weeks. The agency is concerned about recent outbreaks of listeria and salmonella in the melons. So inspectors will visit a sample of facilities looking for any unsanitary conditions.
