The first round of the Georgia high school basketball playoffs is halfway done after a rousing night of action on Friday. It is never too early to begin keeping tabs on the next batch of dominant players in the state of Georgia. In some cases, the top juniors at various positions are the top players in the state, regardless of class.

As more and more games are played the process of deciding who makes the cut becomes harder each week. The scale of potential vs. production is starting to tilt in the direction of production on the field, however you simply cannot ignore potential and who a player projects to be at the next level.

The No. 1 Buford Wolves have won four straight state titles but have lost at least one game each of the last two years. The one loss in 2009? The Lovett Lions upset Buford that year 28-21 to end Buford’s 32-game winning streak.
