The College Football Hall of Fame will celebrate its new class of honorees Wednesday night in Atlanta, the hall’s new hometown. Officials said the hall remains on track to open a year from now, just ahead of the 2014 football season. The hall has been in the works for four years, since Atlanta lured it from South Bend, Ind.
Atlanta police say a construction crew has unearthed what appears to be a cannonball near Centennial Olympic Park. Police spokesman Gregory Lyon says the crew dug up the suspected cannonball Thursday afternoon and authorities took it to a bomb range.
One of Atlanta's newest attractions, a 200 foot tall Ferris wheel, is set to open to the public. SkyView Atlanta is scheduled to open at noon Tuesday and offer riders a bird's eye view of the city during its 15-minute trips near Centennial Olympic Park.
The original developer of Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park has come up with ideas to redesign parts of the park. Assistant park manager Joe Skopitz says the goal is to get people to spend some time in the park rather than just passing through.
