Across the state today residents in many counties will be voting on tax policies. Camden County residents are considering a special 1% sales tax that could raise $65 million over the next 6 years for public works projects. And McIntosh County is considering a similar tax increase to expand education programs.

A federal class action suit is pending against the heirs of three Southeast Georgia gas stations on Interstate 95 near the Florida border. The suit alleges the late convenience store owner rigged the pumps and defrauded customers of millions of dollars in gas over a two year period. Tens of thousands of motorists could have been affected.

Georgia road-builders could start using a paving material made of coal ash from electric plants if a Southeast Georgia test project goes the way one utility wants. The Jacksonville energy company JEA is paving a private dirt road along the St. Mary's River in Georgia's Charlton County. Environmentalists say they can't think of a worse place to test a material that comes from coal and oil byproduct.

A Camden County judge has left office after pleading guilty to three criminal charges. District Attorney Brian Rickman tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Probate Judge Shirley Wise pleaded guilty to three counts -- theft by taking, theft by deception and violation of her oath of office.

Southeast Georgia's Camden County wants the space industry back to a former rocket testing site. County officials are negotiating terms to buy land once used by rocket manufacturer Thiokol to test space vehicles.

The first round of the playoffs tonight centered around upsets involving Gwinnett and Cobb County teams. In one of the biggest upsets in the state tonight, Brookwood went to No. 2 Lassiter and handed the Trojans their first loss of the season in overtime. No. 4 seed Mill Creek traveled to north Fulton and upset Alpharetta with a last-second field goal, while Parkview traveled to east Cobb and beat Walton in overtime.

The Judicial Qualifications Commission is moving against Associate Probate Judge Shirley Wise. She's accused of violating nine counts, including bribery, forgery and kickbacks. She has 30 days to respond to the allegation.
