High school soccer season kicks off with many familiar names atop the rankings. Perennial powers Starr’s Mill and Collins Hill are the teams to watch in all classifications. Both are defending champions, and bring back a ton of talent. The Panthers actually beat the Eagles 3-2 in the teams’ season opener.
It’s midway through February and, when it comes to high school sports in Georgia, that means the winter sports are drawing to a close. It all starts with swimming and diving, as the state championships take place at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center this weekend.
If local fans of girls prep basketball were hungry last week, surely they enjoyed a few sweet pieces of upside-down cake. In just one week, three local girls teams fell from the top spot in the AJC’s rankings.
Brookwood's A.J. Sims, Peachtree Ridge's Angelo Watley and Duluth's Xavier Walker enter the 44 in this week's rankings of the state's top seniors. Tyler Hunter of Lowndes fell out of the 44 ue to injury as did Marquis Roberts of McEachern and South Gwinnett's Edward Muldrow. Kell's Brian Randolph and North Gwinnett's CJ Uzomah cemented their status in the 44 with outstanding performances.
