A mega sports and entertainment complex is set to break ground in north Georgia’s Bartow County. A county official says the 1,400 acre project is planned for a site just north of Lake Allatoona off Interstate 75. It would host more than a dozen sports and connected tournaments, including in youth baseball, soccer and lacrosse.

It's the start of a new baseball season for the Atlanta Braves. The team opens their schedule Thursday afternoon in Washington against the Nationals. This will a season unlike any other the team has had for two decades. Fredi Gonzalez takes-over as manager, following future Hall of Famer Bobby Cox, who retired last October.

A billion-dollar sports complex is set to break ground near Lake Allatoona this spring. The 1,400-acre parcel is under contract, and the permitting and zoning processes are under way. Despite the hefty price tag and lingering recession, developers think such an expensive project will be a success. The Lake Point Sporting Community and Town Center could break ground as early as April along 3 miles of Interstate 75 in Bartow County.
