A spokesman for the Georgia Board of Regents says the board has not approved any renovation work done at the president's home at Georgia Regents University in several years. But a variety of renovations completed since June 2010 amount to about $284,000.

The University of Georgia is set to acquire nearly 15½ acres from the Wormsloe Foundation near Savannah. The Board of Regents voted Wednesday to accept the gift, which will be used for research.

The University System Board of Regents has approved another round of tuition hikes at all state colleges and universities. Meeting in Savannah, the Regents cited the higher cost of doing business as the reason they're increasing tuition by 2.5% percent for most schools. Chancellor Hank Huckaby says, some schools are getting higher increases, as much as 7%.

The University System of Georgia is paying more attention to athletic funding at state schools. Under a new policy approved this week all changes to athletic programs and student fee hikes must be approved by the Board of Regents. Board of Regents spokesman John Millsaps says the new directive fills a gap in oversight.

The merger of some Georgia colleges won't be final until Tuesday, but work is already being done to promote the new names. The University System of Georgia Board of Regents voted last year to consolidate eight schools, and it is expected to give final approval Tuesday.
