Legislation that would make local elections in Macon and Bibb County nonpartisan has one more hurdle to pass. It’s not the Governor’s desk — he’s expected to sign what his fellow Republicans passed handily in the state House and Senate. Rather, the move could bump up against the federal Voting Rights Act.

Government records indicate that a mystery company is planning to build a distribution center that would be one of the largest in central Georgia. The company known only as "Project Circle" plans to build a 960,000-square-foot building in the I-75 Business Park in Bibb County.

An annual Easter egg hunt in central Georgia has been canceled after organizers say parents became violent while trying to collect eggs for themselves and their children in past years. This will be the first time in years that the Easter Bunny won't be visiting children during the annual egg hunt at Central City Park in Macon.

Head Start agencies in 13 central Georgia counties will offer free testing for lead poisoning to children enrolled in the programs. The testing is being provided because the area has the state's highest incidence of lead poisoning of young children.
