Georgia will have two new U.S. House members take their oath in Washington later today as the new Congress convenes. Tifton Republican Austin Scott out of Georgia’s 8th district, and Lawrenceville Republican Rob Woodall from the 7th.

Advocacy groups not affiliated with a political party have pumped money into some Georgia races this year. The fact that their donors are hidden bothers advocacy groups. Georgia’s hotly contested 2nd and 8th Congressional districts are the recipients of most of the non party affiliated money.

Georgia's Congressional delegation could gain a subcommittee chairmanship if Republicans take control of the US House next week. Savannah Republican Jack Kingston says, he's waiting until after the election to think about the likelihood of his wielding the gavel of the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee after a GOP takeover.

A Tift County Judge will decide on December 6th whether to unseal the divorce records of Austin Scott. Scott is running against Congressman Jim Marshall in the 8th Congressional District. Race is considered one of the most competitive in the nation.

House Minority Leader John Boehner comes to Georgia. He was here to campaign for Austin Scott and Mike Keown, and promised them key appointments if elected.

The candidates for Georgia’s 8th and 12th congressional district debated last night on GPB. The 8th district around Macon has been hotly contested and the debate between incumbent Democrat Jim Marshall and Republican Austin Scott got contentious at times.
