Fifteen years ago this month, tobacco companies agreed to pay states billions of dollars in the largest civil litigation settlement in US history. Georgia has received about $2 billion from the settlement. So, where did that $2 billion in tobacco settlement money go?
Georgians will soon have an opportunity to sign onto a landmark national cancer study that will help researchers further unravel what causes or contributes to cancer. The American Cancer Society is starting its third long-range research project, and organizers want about 10,000 Georgians on board.
Officials with the Rock and Roll Marathon announced the new course for this year's race in Savannah. The event drew 23,000 participants in 2011. The new course was mapped out to respond to safety concerns of running on the Truman Parkway.
