"Tips for Running in the Heat" are printed on the back of every Peachtree Road Race bib, but this year, runners enjoyed mild temperatures. “The weather was perfect this year," said Brian Davis of Atlanta, who completed his fourth Peachtree. "It was not too hot. It did not rain. Perfect weather was the difference for me this year.” Runners were especially appreciative of the clear skies after storms made last year's race (and Piedmont Park) a little soggy. The improved conditions meant runners ditched their ponchos this July 4th for more festive attire.
Authorities say bags, backpacks and purses will be searched near the finish line of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race. Workers will be at the entry points to the start at Lenox Square and at the finish line in midtown Atlanta. They will be searching bags and backpacks before people can get inside a fence that will be set up around the Meadow at Piedmont Park.
