Bibb County voters have overwhelmingly approved a 1-cent education sales tax. The Telegraph reports that the measure passed with 75% of voters saying yes.

The extra penny of sales tax on the dollar is projected to earn about $180 million that will go to a wishlist of projects across the Bibb County school district.

Meanwhile, voters in the city of Milledgeville and in Baldwin County sent a clear message that they do not want to merge their governments. 69% of voters turned down a proposal to join the two as a consolidated city-county. Within the city alone, 64% of voters said no.

Meanwhile, voters in Forsyth have elected a new mayor. Former City Council member Eric Wilson defeated incumbent Mayor John Howard II to claim victory in that race with 53 % of the vote.
