Every year before the football game between the University of Georgia and the University of Florida, students and alumni from both schools flock to St. Simons Island for a pre-party that’s earned the name “frat beach.” But after complaints from residents, this year police plan to crack down on underage drinking and public drunkenness.

Cap Fendig is the former chairman of the Glynn County Commission and owns a boat and trolley tour company on St. Simons Island. We reached by cell phone him on his boat, where he explained that the crowds have grown in recent years.

UGA and Florida will face off on the football field Saturday afternoon.
