Celebrate the Fourth of July with some guidance from Mahogany Bowers, founder of Blessings in a Bookbag, and Clinton Edminster, executive director of Art Rise Savannah.

Mahogany’s picks:

-Celebrate the Fourth in the quintessential Savannah style - on River Street. DJ MXM will spin tunes at Rousakis Plaza, followed by live music from The Hypnotics. And of course, fireworks will light up the sky over the waterfront at 9 p.m. Saturday, 4-10 p.m.; free.

-After the fireworks, head over to the Jinx to rock out with Crazy Man Crazy. The local rockabilly band plays a mix of upbeat originals and classic covers. Saturday, 10 p.m.; donations to enter.

-Registration is now open for the Little Miss Happy Headed Pageant - a pageant celebrating little girls with natural hair and big dreams. The pageant is August 5. Pick up registration forms at 520 Wings on Bull St.

Clinton’s picks:

-It’s the first friday of the month, which means it’s time for another Art March. The special holiday edition of the monthly festival in the Starland district will feature live music and an indie arts market, plus shows at galleries throughout the area. Friday, 6-9 p.m.; free.

-Check out a rather less family-friendly celebration with United We Strip at Ampersand. The show stars members of Savannah Sweet Tease, celebrating independence in their signature burlesque style. Saturday, 10 p.m.; $5.

And of course there are plenty more ways to celebrate the Fourth this weekend - including fireworks, cannon firings, and river cruises. Find full event listings in the latest issues of DO Savannah and Connect Savannah.
