A jury has found suspended DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis guilty of of attempted theft by extortion and perjury.

Ellis was accused of pressuring county vendors for campaign contributions.

WSB-TV reports that Ellis was acquitted of five other counts on charges that included bribery.

His first case ended in a mistrial after more than a week of jury deliberations. Ellis maintained his innocence during the trial, saying he made phone calls but didn't threaten anyone or take action against vendors' contracts.

In May, AJC reporter Mark Niesse talked with GPB’s Celeste Headlee about the retrial. Listen here.
