Mossterpiece / Art Rise

South Magazine editor Paula Fogarty and Paprika Southern co-editor Siobhan Egan offer up some ways to have fun in the Savannah area this weekend.

Siobhan’s picks:

-Check out Savannah’s newest public art installation in action at Mossterpiece on Thursday evening at Judge Realty’s 10th anniversary bash. The moss graffiti mural is in progress on the Judge building all month. The work by artist Jamie Bourgeois is being called the largest and first eco-friendly mural project in the region. Thursday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.; $20 for Art Rise members, $25 general admission, discounts for couples.

-Make some adorable family artwork with Scribble Art Studio’s family workshop on Saturday. Each family member will make a self-portrait as a bear. Saturday, 1-2:30 p.m.; $15 per person.

-Get your dad some great food and music at Sunday’s Stopover in the Yard, the first in an outdoor concert series presented The Grey and MusicFile Productions, the parent company of Savannah Stopover. The show features Nashville band Great Peacock as well as food and drinks from the Grey - including house-made Chatham Artillery Punch. Sunday, 1-4 p.m.; $21.

Paula’s picks:

-Enjoy some of the best music the Southeast has to offer with Teddy Adams and the Divas at Ships of the Sea Museum. Jazz legend Adams will perform with three of Savannah’s finest singers: Huxsie Scott, Gina Rene and Claire Frazier. Proceeds benefit the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club. Thursday, 7 p.m.; $35 in advance, $40 at the door.

-Rock out at the Civic Center when John Mellencamp brings his “Plain Spoken” tour to the Johnny Mercer Theatre. Carlene Carter, daughter of June Carter Cash and Carl Smith, will open for the classic rock great. Friday, 7:30 p.m.; $39.50-$118.50.

-Get dirty at JCB’s annual Mud Fest on Saturday morning. The event features a mud run - with obstacles - as well as a five-mile bike course known as Dig the Ride. And if you’re not up for the race, you can watch from the Party Pit, where food and entertainment is provided. Saturday, 8 a.m.; mud run $60 individual or $140 two-person team, ride $30, party pit $10.

-Celebrate Father’s Day on the water with the Savannah River Boat Cruise’s Father’s Day brunch and dinner. Enjoy great views and live entertainment while cruising the river in the classic boat. Sunday, brunch boarding 11:30 a.m., dinner boarding 6 p.m.; brunch $45.95 adults and $26.35 children, dinner $56.95 adults and $32.95 children.
