When you think of a drug dealer, what comes to mind? Is it someone like Tuco from the TV show Breaking Bad: a shrewd, cold businessman? Or do you think of someone more goofy, like Jay from the movie Clerks?

On Second Thought host Celeste Headlee speaks with Georgia State University professor Scott Jacques. He interviewed 30 suburban drug dealers for his new book Code of the Suburb

Also joining the conversation is Seth Ferranti. He’s a writer and author of the book Prison Stories. But before that, he was a dealer. He served more than 20 years in prison for selling LSD before he was recently released.

A lot of these dealers start out as users. So to get some perspective on the kinds of users we’re seeing in Georgia, we’ve brought in Rusty Gray. He’s the Vice President of Clinical Services for St. Jude’s Recovery Center in Atlanta.
