Hissing lawns editor and Savannah Morning News columnist Bill Dawers and stylist and South Magazine fashion editor Ashley Borders offer up some ways to have fun in the Savannah area this weekend.

Bill’s picks:

-Eat some great food and learn more about important work in the Savannah community with the Chatham-Savannah Citizen Advocacy annual covered dish supper and meeting. The group provides support to developmentally disabled members of the community who might otherwise be marginalized. 5:30-8:30 p.m.; $5, or free with a covered dish to share.

-Celebrate Craft Beer Week with some local brews and music from Amethyst Kiah and Velvet Caravan, Thursday at Service Brewing. It’s the first in a series of planned events from Service and Music File Productions, the folks behind Stopover and Revival Fest, and the ticket price includes a tour and beer tasting. Thursday, 9:30 p.m.; $20.

-Enjoy more local music Saturday with Psychedelic Freakout at Dollhouse Studios. The show will feature Shana Falana, Wet Socks, Blackrune and Grimsel. Saturday, 8 p.m.

Ashley’s picks:

-Check out the grand re-opening of local clothing outfit 13 Bricks at their new store on Friday. The event will feature free food and drinks, prizes - and of course their original screen-printed clothes for sale. Saturday, 1-5 p.m.

-Explore the whimsical-yet-creepy world of the Mermaid Circus on Friday at The Butcher. Check out the unique work of Lisa Ocampo and Tiffany O’Brien while you have your tarot cards read and enjoy free refreshments. Friday, 7-10 p.m.; free.

-See the Jepson Center’s latest exhibit in style with the opening of Life’s a Beach, complete with opening-night fashion show. The exhibit features beach photography from British photographer Martin Parr. Friday’s fashion show, featuring the work of local jewelry designer Zia Sachedina, will use the grand staircase in the Jepson’s atrium as a runway. Friday, 7:30-9:30 p.m.; $15 for members, $25 for nonmembers.
