Dikembe Mutombo is one of the most memorable players in Hawks history. The seven-foot -two center would block shots with a finger wag and a catchphrase, “Not in my house.”

He spent five seasons in Atlanta -- and was a defensive powerhouse in the NBA for 18 seasons.

But even during his NBA career, Mutombo focused on humanitarian efforts. He traveled to Somali refugee camps in the 1990s and funded the women’s basketball team in Congo to come to the 1996 summer Olympics. He opened a hospital in his homeland, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He founded the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation in Atlanta in 1997. And now he’s an ambassador for the NBA. He just returned from a trip to Cuba, showing their youth his love for the game. Mutombo shares stories from his travels with On Second Thought Celeste Headlee.
