Art March

Amy Condon, associate editor of Savannah Magazine, and Autumn Van Gunten, owner of Socially Yours, offer up a few ways to have fun on the Georgia coast this weekend.

Amy’s picks:

-The Savannah Music Festival wraps up this weekend, with a full schedule of concerts continuing daily through Saturday’s closing night party. Find the full lineup and tickets here.

-It’s the first Friday in April, which means it’s time for ArtRise Savannah’s First Friday Art March. This month’s event will also involve the kids of Deep’s Block by Block program, who will be interviewing Savannahians for their mural project. Friday, 6-9 p.m.; free.

-Get active for a cause on Saturday with the Red Shoes Run, supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. The run will take place near Memorial Hospital. Saturday, 8:45 a.m.; $30 advance registration, $35 day-of.

-Join a veritable who’s-who of local bands in supporting a Savannahian in need at MaggiePalooza on Saturday at Southbound Brewing. The show’s a fundraiser for Maggie Metzler, a member of the Southbound team who’s battling cancer for a second time. The Accomplices, City Hotel, John Riddle and more will play. Saturday, 2 p.m.; $20.

Autumn’s picks:

-Spend your Saturday in the great outdoors with Fort McAllister’s monthly First Saturday Hike. The three-mile hike will include a talk about the park’s different ecosystems. Saturday, 9 a.m.; $2 to hike plus $5 parking fee.

-Stick around after the hike for an Easter egg hunt at Fort McAllister, beginning at 2 p.m. Or find your eggs at Grayson Stadium, where Lifebridge Church will host a free egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. While you’re there, check out some bubble soccer - the latest quirky sports craze to hit Savannah.

-Get your spring garden going with the spring plant swap at Jane Fishman’s urban folk garden on West Boundary Street. Bring plants you want to share - or if you don’t have a plant to swap, you’re encouraged to bring some food. Saturday, 8-11 a.m.; free.
