Georgia Republicans hope their May convention is a cattle call for potential presidential candidates.
Over a thousand delegates will attend the gathering in Athens.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that State House Speaker David Ralston has invited New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
Secretary of State Brian Kemp has sent invitations to Senator Ted Cruz, who announced his presidential bid this week, as well as Senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul.
Kemp wants Georgia and several other southern states to flex their muscle by holding an “SEC Primary” on March 1, 2016.
